Stellantis Pro One and IVECO Forge Strategic Partnership to Expand Electric Commercial Vehicle Market

In a significant development for Europe's commercial vehicle sector, Stellantis Pro One and IVECO have announced a groundbreaking collaboration that will reshape the electric light commercial vehicle (LCV) landscape. This strategic partnership, focused on sustainable mobility, represents a major commitment to expanding zero-emission options for commercial fleets across Europe.

A Decade-Long Commitment to Electric Mobility

The partnership, announced on March 14, 2025, establishes a ten-year agreement for Stellantis Pro One to manufacture and supply two all-electric light commercial vehicles that will be sold exclusively under the IVECO brand throughout European markets. This long-term collaboration demonstrates both companies' dedication to accelerating the transition toward more sustainable commercial transportation solutions.

The new electric vans, expected to launch by mid-2026, will significantly enhance IVECO's electric vehicle portfolio, specifically strengthening its offerings in both the mid-size and large van segments.

Made-in-Europe Production Strategy

A key aspect of this collaboration is the European manufacturing footprint. Stellantis will produce these electric commercial vehicles across three strategic production facilities:

  • Atessa, Italy

  • Gliwice, Poland

  • Hordain, France

This production strategy leverages Stellantis Pro One's established manufacturing expertise while supporting European industrial capabilities in the growing electric vehicle sector.

Expanding IVECO's Electric Portfolio

The two new electric LCVs will be available in multiple weight variations:

  • Mid-size van: 2.8 to 3.1 tons gross vehicle weight (GVW)

  • Large van: 3.5 to 4.25 tons gross vehicle weight (GVW)

These additions will complement IVECO's existing electric commercial vehicle lineup, which includes the iconic eDaily. The expanded portfolio will provide commercial customers with comprehensive options across weight classes to meet diverse operational requirements, particularly for last-mile delivery applications.

Leadership Perspectives on the Partnership

Luca Sra, President of the Truck Business Unit at Iveco Group, emphasized the strategic importance of this collaboration: "We are excited to add two innovative and versatile battery electric vans to our Light Commercial Vehicle line-up, boosting our competitiveness in the van segment. By choosing to partner with Stellantis Pro One, we are leveraging the extensive know-how and strong presence in Italy and Europe that historically tie our companies."

Jean Philippe Imparato, Chief Operating Officer of Stellantis for Enlarged Europe, highlighted Stellantis' market leadership: "We are proud to collaborate with an Italian and world-leading company like IVECO, and this happened because we are European LCV market leaders thanks to our operational excellence, the quality of our products, and our ability to develop battery drive technology, which helps reduce polluting emissions and protect the environment."

Alignment with Broader Sustainability Goals

This collaboration aligns perfectly with Stellantis Pro One's ambitious Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, which targets a 40% electric vehicle mix and aims to contribute to Stellantis becoming a carbon net zero corporation by 2038. Similarly, IVECO continues to pursue its decarbonization strategy through various technologies, including battery electric vehicles.

Market Impact and Distribution

The new electric vans will be distributed exclusively through IVECO's established sales and service network across Europe, including the United Kingdom. With over 3,500 sales and service outlets in more than 160 countries, IVECO's extensive distribution network ensures comprehensive support for these new electric vehicles.

Industry Significance

This partnership represents a significant development in the commercial vehicle sector's transition toward sustainable mobility. By combining Stellantis Pro One's manufacturing capabilities with IVECO's market presence and customer relationships, the collaboration creates a powerful synergy to accelerate electric commercial vehicle adoption across Europe.

As businesses increasingly seek to reduce their carbon footprint and comply with strengthening environmental regulations in urban areas, this partnership positions both companies to address growing market demand for zero-emission commercial transport solutions.

The collaboration also demonstrates how established automotive manufacturers are forming strategic partnerships to navigate the complex transition to electric mobility, sharing expertise and resources to bring competitive products to market more efficiently.

For fleet operators and businesses dependent on light commercial vehicles, this partnership promises to deliver additional electric options backed by two industry leaders with extensive experience in the commercial vehicle sector.
