Isuzu D-Max EV: The Electric Workhorse Arriving in 2026
The Isuzu D-Max has always been a go-to pick-up for people needing a tough, no-nonsense truck — and now it’s going electric. The new Isuzu D-Max EV is set to launch in the UK in early 2026, bringing the same rugged capability as the diesel, but with zero tailpipe emissions.
What Is It?
From the outside, you’d barely notice the difference between the new EV and the diesel model. Isuzu has kept things simple: the same shape, the same body styles (Extended Cab and Double Cab), and the same trim levels (DL40 and V-Cross).
The real change is under the skin — two electric motors (front and rear) give full-time 4WD, producing 188bhp and 325Nm of torque. That’s enough for 0–62mph in 10.1 seconds and a top speed just over 80mph.
Range and Charging
The 66.9kWh battery provides up to 163 miles on a full charge. Towing or off-road work will reduce this, but it’s more than enough for daily use.
Charging is straightforward: 50kW DC fast charging takes the battery from 20–80% in around one hour.
Still Built to Work
Despite the EV switch, the D-Max hasn’t lost its backbone:
-
Payload: 1 tonne
-
Towing capacity: 3.5 tonnes
-
Ground clearance: 210mm
-
Wading depth: 600mm
-
Rough Terrain Mode for off-road conditions
Instant torque from the motors makes low-speed off-roading easier than ever.
Inside the Cabin
The interior mirrors the diesel version:
-
Touchscreen infotainment with smartphone mirroring
-
Heated front seats
-
Digital driver’s display
-
Dual-zone climate control
-
Front and rear parking sensors
Who’s It For?
Isuzu is targeting fleet buyers (utility, construction, public sector), but private buyers needing a capable zero-emission pick-up will also find it appealing.
Pricing & Availability

-

Final Thoughts
Pick-ups have been late to the EV party, but the Isuzu D-Max EV looks set to change that. With proper towing power, genuine off-road ability, and a usable electric range, it’s one of the first no-compromise electric workhorses for UK buyers.
