Skywell is set to make its mark in the UK commercial vehicle market in 2025 with the release of its new large electric van, the ‘233’. This vehicle, which will be showcased at the Commercial Vehicle Show in April at Birmingham’s NEC Arena, marks the brand’s first entry into the UK market. Skywell, part of the Chinese tech giant Skyworth, is a rising star in electric vehicles, with a strong background in electric bus production. The company is expanding into Europe, and the 233 electric van is its debut commercial model for the region.
Versatile Configurations for Diverse Needs
The Skywell 233 will be available in two lengths—5,490mm and 5,990mm—and two roof heights, ranging from 2,200mm to 2,700mm. This flexibility provides cargo volumes between 9.5 and 13 cubic metres, catering to businesses with varying transportation needs. In terms of payload, the van offers options for either a 3.5-tonne or 4.25-tonne gross vehicle mass (GVM), with the larger model capable of carrying up to 1,755kg, making it highly competitive in its class.
Advanced Powertrain and Technology
Under the hood, the Skywell 233 is powered by a 204hp electric motor paired with either an 88kWh or 105kWh battery, both supplied by industry-leading CATL. While exact range figures are yet to be confirmed, these specifications promise a balance of power and efficiency suitable for most commercial applications. The van is also equipped with cutting-edge safety and driver assistance systems, including Intelligent Cruise Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Lane Keep Assist, ensuring both safety and comfort for drivers on long hauls or busy urban routes.
Skywell’s UK Debut and Competitive Edge
The UK market is already filled with electric vans from established players such as Ford, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen. Skywell’s 233 will compete with popular models like the Ford E-Transit and Mercedes-Benz eSprinter. However, with its strong payload capacity, modern design, and Skyworth’s tech-forward approach, the Skywell 233 is positioned to carve out a niche in the UK’s growing electric vehicle market. Skywell plans to announce the van’s official name and pricing at the CV Show, where businesses will get their first glimpse of this ambitious newcomer.
As Skywell readies its first commercial vehicle for the UK market, the 233 large electric van highlights the brand’s ambition to establish itself as a major contender in the electric van industry. With its flexible design, robust payload options, and advanced technology, the Skywell 233 could offer a competitive alternative for UK businesses making the switch to electric fleets.
